ABOUT US
Welcome to Shalem Pentecostal Tabernacle, Inc.(SPT). We have been serving the Elmont community for three decades. SPT is a Bible based Full Gospel Church. The Church has a primary function of providing leadership to its members to worship the only true GOD and to uphold the teachings of the scripture. The Church emphasizes the threefold teaching of discipleship, evangelism and world mission.
Shalem Pentecostal Tabernacle,Inc was organized to meet the specific spiritual needs of the people primarily in its environs and Christians from the state of New York in particular. The body of believers are began to meet in the early part of December 1989 and recognized that the spiritual needs of many belonging to the Indian Community of immigrants from the state of Kerala have not been fully met by the ministries they received from some of the churches they attended. Since they spoke Malayalam language and many of them did enjoy worshiping in their own native tongue, it was clear that they were in need of a spiritual leadership and direction geared to their special needs. So the leaders of this church spent a season of prayer and fasting seeking the will of the Father God in this matter. Because of that, a call for more organized meetings were made and it was well received by the people. A good number of people eagerly attended those meetings and received the blessing through the leadership of the new assembly. At a special meeting on the 10th day of December 1989, it was decided that the Church should be incorporated.
